Gracie's First Trip to The Garden

Today we went to Sesame Street Live, and Grace had a blast. The show was awesome. Elmo, Ernie, Baby Bear, Abby, Zoe, Bert and more were all within arms reach. Grace was mesmerized the whole time and only had a few meltdowns - when she got hungry, when we wouldn't let her rush the stage and when the show ended. Here are some shots from the day: arriving at MSG, enjoying the show and exploding confetti, gobbling up some chocolate ice cream, doing stamps (thanks, Anni!) and testing out Daddy's shoes and briefcase. Next year Nate will have to join us.

One Month Old

Nate turned one month old today, and he celebrated with an amazing milestone: he rolled over from his tummy to his back. Grace slept in and is doing much better today. This morn, for ex, she asked for a lollipop with ketchup. Mmmhmmm.

Happy Boy

Nate really gets going when he is smiling. Doesn't the top right pic look like a glamour shot pose? I think Nate might even be pinching his own cheek or thinking about it.

Virus 3, Grace 0

Poor Grace was sick with all sorts of horrible symptoms over the weekend. She could barely lift her head, was napping all day long (she never naps) and wasn't eating. Poor thing has a horrible fever, too. Turns out she had an ear infection too. As sick as she feels, I think it might feel worse to be the parent. Nate has a cough, but he is sleeping, eating and smiling regardless.

Little Ballerina

Grace had a fun morning at Little Maestros, and then a bunch of her friends came over to play and see Nate. Grace, Max and Jonathan, Penelope and Baby Cooper and Jackson Lean played so nicely together/next to each other; it was kind of shocking actually. After everyone left, Grace put on her gear for ballet and danced all over the apartment with excitement. When we finally got to ballet, Grace didn't want to participate in the group circle (which I thought was pretty boring too); all she wanted to do was stare at herself in the wall of mirrors and balance on one foot. Grace loves to balance on one foot. And apparently, she likes to see herself do this, and the bigger the mirror, the better!

Grace had a great time and afternoon...until 5pm when she turned to me, told me she was scared and then proceeded to cry hysterically and uncontrollably until she passed out from exhaustion at 7pm. I thought maybe the day's activities were just too much - esp the ballet class during her former (she's officially stopped) naptime. Turns out it was the beginning of a horrible next few days of fever and a nasty virus.

Purple Grace and a Nate Smile

Grace does some puzzles, and Nate is so smiley that it's hard to get a clear pic. We have a ton of excellent blurry smile photos.

Yo, Ho, Ho, Ho, Doin' The Pirate Dance

Dr. Grace took a walk in Mommy's shoes this morning, while Nate donned his new shoes from Aunt Dina. We made it out of the house for a preschool playdate and a trip to Balley Academy to pick up G's tights, leotard and slippers for class on Friday...and a little Tinkerbell tutu, just for fun. Here are some shots of Grace doing "The Pirate Dance," a little shimmy she picked up from a Pirate Pig on a Dora episode.

Three Weeks Old

We spent most of Saturday indoors, with the exception of taking Grace out to play and walk for an hour or so. Tonight Nate joined G for her bath and bedtime routine, and I was shocked how well she took the big change. Nate screamed during the entire book reading and going to bed process, and Grace didn't seem to mind too much. She hasn't been napping, though, so she's been dropping by 7 o'clock at night.

Joyful Glesers

Grace loves to listen to music and dance, and Nate loves to laugh.

First Bath

Grace and Nate had a good day, and Lucas Immerman stopped by this afternoon. Nate had his first bath tonight. He wasn't a fan. He's so easy going, but he hates disrobing for diaper changes, washing up and now baths.

The Many Faces of Nate Gleser

Big Pink Bow!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Grace had her last Parkbench class today and was in heaven with all the party food - cupcakes, pretzels, cheese, graham crackers, muffins and more. After pigging out, we went to Three Little Birds to play. Nate stayed up all morning and went to sleep five minutes before we walked in the door. Stuffed from the party food and a little bit of lunch, Grace went down again (whoohoo!) today and so did I. This afternoon we woke up and headed to Music with Brett.

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Here is a pic of Grace playing "what's in the box?"; we put different things in the box, cover it with a blanket, guess the "mystery" (it's so cute when she says this word) and do a big reveal. As you can see, Grace decided to be the mystery. After 100 rounds of what's in the box, G and I went to storytime. Poor Nate got left behind, but he's still very new, it's freezing cold outside and he didn't seem too bothered. Here is a pic of him flashing his smile, which he's been practicing for the past couple of days. Even though these smiles are not real, they're still very cute. He's a very peaceful boy. So far.

Grace seems to be adjusting more and more to Nate being here. We get the occasional "no more new baby" or "no more nate" when he leaves the room to nap or when she doesn't want us to hold him, but overall she's doing really well.

After a morning of playing indoors, G and I went to Little Maestros for music class, and she was soooo shy and timid. I was shocked. Although she was quiet and clingy, she was definitely paying careful attention to everything. Afterwards, when we went out to pizza, all she did was talk about class. She had a great time eating pizza and watching the "pizza chef" on the other side of the glass next to our table. This afternoon, after not napping, G got up to find Grandma and Aunt Katie walking in the door, and then Nate had the pleasure of watching his first tea party.

Good Day

Grace may not have left the house once today and had about ten timeouts because of temper tantrums, but it was still a really good day. G behaved like an angel when she wasn't cranky and even napped (!!!) this afternoon; Nate was his usual sweet self. Grace also had two big accomplishments: 1) she let me feed Nate twice w/o trying to hit him or steal the bottle and 2) told me "poopoo coming" in the bath tonight. Although she didn't make it from the tub to the potty, I still consider it a big step. This afternoon, Chrissie and Max and Liz came by to spoil G with presents. Between her bday, the holidays and becoming a new big sister all in less than a month, she's a lucky girl.

Nate's bris was today, and he was a champ. It was great to see our friends and family and explain how we chose his name. Nathaniel is for my Grandma Norma; Keller is because there are no young Keller men to carry on the family name.

Party Time

This afternoon we celebrated Simon Manheimer's 1st birthday at Chelsea Piers. It was an awesome party with especially awesome food, fun and party favors. Gracie and Maya had a blast! So did Uncle Teddy.
